Art For All!

As a fan, I decided to produce my homage to Gilbert and George and their ‘Art for all’. I thought it would be fun to take this theme and create large modular pieces. Each piece is original, personal and developed in conjunction with the client as part of a commission. The idea is to put the client (or their cars, kittens, house or granny) in the art and capture the moment. The images are big, bold and quite Pop.

The first piece is entitled RED. That’s the name of the boxer dog who, now in his senior years, won’t be around forever, so the ‘family’ pay their own homage to him by going RED too. The themes can be many and varied, it could just as easy be a wedding, your classic car, or pet spider, it doesn’t really matter as long as it’s something that means something to you and I’m allowed to follow the simple rules of size, style, placement and controlled colour palette. I’d like, where possible, to develop themes and tell a story. One thing that is important is that it is big with key elements being at least full size. This means that when you stand next to the picture you can feel part of the whole thing.

The individual images are photographed separately, the palm leaves were grabbed from a photo library for convenience, then they are processed, converted, assembled and a huge piece of editable artwork created, then it’s coloured to match specific colour palettes (decor of room it’s to hang). Then the next process is completely secret!!

The attached example is made up of 16 x 500mm square frames arranged in a square making a 2m x 2m piece. The modular format means that depending on the subject matter and the size and space it is going to fit into the piece can be shaped to suit.

If you have a big empty wall looking for a statement piece then give me a shout to discuss. [email protected]
