Traditional meets contemporary

I like projects like this one. We start with a skilled craftsman who uses traditional methods to create stunning, bespoke wooden pieces of art, his request is we develop a suitable identity that demonstrated his traditional skills and how he uses them to create modern contemporary pieces.

The key was to mirror his values, so a modern slant on a classic design, using traditional printing techniques like letterpress. The stationery paper looked aged and felt substantial. Tags were developed with traditional brass eyelets, these would add value to the piece. Adding rubber stamps and branding irons, a steel ‘logo’ that could be heated and branded onto a discreet part of the piece, added a personal touch as if he was signing it and making it more unique.

The woodpecker character was designed to be totally versatile and could be used on all sorts of marketing material.
